Overview Surgical Approaches

There are generally three surgical approaches used in the surgical resection of Acoustic Neuroma. They all are microsurgical approaches, utilizing the best in microscope magnification technology as well as other state of the art endoscopic techniques to remove the tumor safely. Once the decision has been made to remove the tumor, the choice of approach depends on the size of the tumor, the hearing status of the patient, the feasibility to save hearing, age and health of the patient, among other things. The Center for Acoustic Neuroma is one of the few centers with personal expertise and experience with the three general approaches to Acoustic Neuroma, including variations that we have developed over the years of dealing with these tumors.
